  • Ancestry DNA

Ancestry DNA is much more practical than 23andME DNA because AncestryDNA has such a massive data base with names and a a vast storehouse of knowledge already attached to those names through traditional genealogy methods over the years. 23andME seems to rely more on knowledge that starts with genetic descriptions that they find and tying them to ancient lines of DNA already known and then following these strains forward to show broad ancestral movements forward. That is just MY impression though. I am certainly no geneticist OR genealogist!

  • Survey Glitch

    By hannya69
I get a notification saying I have an unfinished survey ready for me to complete. I click on the notification and the app launches, and the Ancestry loading icon just spins and spins. Please fix this issue as it may be a bug and it is very annoying.
  • Don’t pay for “Traits”

    By hejeieshaha
I love ancestry DNA. But the traits thing is a complete rip off. Told me nothing of substance. Was wrong about basically everything. Don’t buy it, but I endorse ancestry dna otherwise.

I have to say how impressed I am with this project! To find out where my ancestors were from is extraordinary! Some I knew for sure and some were a complete surprise! Thank you AncestryDNA for this chance to discover more about my family!
  • Somewhat interesting

I was excited to do this, and the results essentially mirror what I expected. Unfortunately, there are three overlapping maps and no explanation or percentage estimates for how my DNA matches to the different maps. It would be nice to know if my ancestry was 100% from the bigger map, 80% from the smaller map, etc. Sounds like others have received that kind of info. but I did not. Also, buyers should be aware that when you buy the kit and nothing else, all you get is basically a map or set of maps, and some basic Wikipedia- type info. that is generic to that particular region, which is fine, but I guess I was expecting something more.
