I purchased a Pro subscription on auto-renewal at $29.99/year. Would like to cancel my subscription. App says it needs to be done through Apple iTunes. iTunes shows no subscription to AllTrails in order for me to unsubscribe from auto-renewal. Very frustrating and something that needs to be fixed.

As a trail runner, this app is absolutely indispensable in terms of finding new and interesting trails to run on. Also comes in handy when I’m not sure where a turn is on the trail or what my current gain is! Get the PRO version. You won’t be disappointed!

I love this app, it’s definitely worth the investment, I don’t know how I ever got along without it. Yippie for AllTrails.
  • Useless without Pro

If you’re all by yourself, trying to find a trail, this might work. But if you want to share the trail with someone, be prepared to type out every detail of the trail b.c. you can only “share” an image of the trail, that doesn’t even include the name. The app suggests you can download some (the first three) maps without pro, but as soon as you tap on them... Tadaaa!! Buy Pro!
  • How to make it better v2

    1. Reduce initialization time. Often, you hit the trailhead, go until you come across a fork, and need to check your memory. So you pull out the app and have to wait up to 1 minute for it to open. This should be optimized. It often takes a minute. 2. Eliminate requirement to re-initialize. OK, you take a left and follow for about 1.5 miles and take a left and then do a bit of a tight switch back. But by the time you finish that 1.5 mi stretch, you’ve already forgotten if it was a left or right at the fork, so you consult the app. Lo! It’s got to initialize again. This doesn’t happen always but enough to be annoying, esp when you’re really not wanting to look at your phone. 3. Eliminate the bug that brings you back to the dashboard / trail stack almost inevitably after storing for some time. This is related to 2. You’re on the trail. You’ve been on it for 5mi now happily confident where to go. You pull out the app and, Lo!, your map is vanished and you have to search for the trail again, if you haven’t already favorited it. Keep the map on top, active, continuously always unless user backs out. 4. Enable tapping on a map you just downloaded to view it. You download a map to see it. So when it’s done downloading, intuitively you tap it (like every other newly downloaded file in the universe) and the dialogue box asks if you want to delete it. No! I wanna see it. The current version makes you navigate thru the app (weirdly away from the file you think is before you) to find the map. We’re navigating nature not apps! 5. Related to 4: Automatically add downloaded maps to favorites — or organize them in a place to keep favs separate. Say you’re trying out a new trail. You don’t know if you like it. You’re Type A, so you download the night before but, reluctant, you, who needs experience and evidence before committing to a fav, don’t heart it at this time. You get to the trailhead the next day but can’t find the trail among all the others popping up because there’s no way whatsoever to see all your downloaded maps in one place. Again: There’s no way to see your downloaded maps! Only your “save for layers,” which don’t actually have to be downloaded. This is all the more annoying when 1,2,3,4 happen in a place with no signal. The actual maps are fab. So this app is def a must. I have pro. But it needs an overhaul so as not to try to replicate the browser experience but to be trail-day ready: quick, lean, and map-oriented. Explore functions should still be there, but the app should not forfeit quick, continuous, easy access to real maps in real-time.

I would give the free version 5 stars but the paid version 2-3. The free version allows me to see the maps I need and the standard trail when I’m within service areas or no signal just fine. I’ve used the free version for over 10-15 long hikes outside of cellphone service areas. I purchased the pro access today before an attempted long hike and it made absolutely no difference when I was in the middle of trying to hike a trail at 11,000 ft altitude snowshoeing through snowed over trails with way over 5 feet of snow. My main objective was accessing the topography maps and weather overlays. I downloaded the maps before hitting the trail, but once I was I was on the trail I didn’t have access to them since there was no signal. I got the same features as I did with the free version so I was somewhat disappointed. The app also constantly resets so you have to bring up the map several times which isn’t ideal if you out hiking trying to make sure you stay on track, while also looking out for wildlife.
  • A few issues but lots of greatness

Super useful once you’ve chosen a trail. I wish I could more easily sort the trails and compare for certain areas. It’s a bit cumbersome for finding the right trail when you’re going in blind.
  • Great app for hikers

This app is great. It is useful for finding trails while I’m traveling in unfamiliar areas. The ability to record trails makes it easy to reference back to trails I’ve done quite easily. I wasn’t keen on spending that much money in a subscription. However, I found it was total worth every penny.
