  • Horrible - Skip It

    I rarely write reviews but this is a terrible app - slow, bloated, and rarely works. Stories don’t load, it will just freeze and close out. I’m cancelling my subscription tomorrow, no point in paying if the app doesn’t work.
  • Horrible app! They know this and refuse to fix it!

    This app is horrible. 50% of the time it will not let me open a story. I get a white page with a spinning ball that never goes away. I see there are many other 1 star ratings for this app. What is wrong with the Tribune company that they do not fix this? It makes me wonder about the quality of the organization - and thus the quality of their journalism.

  • Glitchy, Clunky = Unprofitable

    Why should I PAY for a subscription to an app that freezes on my fully-updated iPhone X every time I try to open an article? Tribune, if you can't deliver the content, then you can't deliver the eyeballs to your advertisers, and you can't compete in the digital marketplace. Every time your app freezes (and it is, in fact, every time I foolishly open it), you don't deliver impressions and you lose ad revenue. You can't afford to get this wrong.
  • Just terrible

    I have been a loyal subscriber and reader of the Trib for many years. I respect all the hard working journalists and editors that work so hard to cover and tell stories that are important, relevant and informative. So it pains me to say that after using this app (in all its various incarnations) for several years, it remains the worst news app I use. It hangs almost every time I use it. Closing and reopening does nothing. The links in the stories often don’t work or then hang. This is not occasionally. This is virtually every time I use it. I know the Trib has struggled, along with much of the print and legacy media, with revenue, ownership and digital platform challenges. But I just refuse to believe that a company like the Chicago Tribune can’t put together a functional, working, easy to use app. Too many other examples of this exist. Come on, Trib. Get your digital act together and show your readers you care about them.

  • Doesn’t work on iPhone

    I have called the Trib’s customer service desk many times over the last two years. The issue is that around 50% of the times when I click on a story, a white display is shown and the app locks up. Does this on the iPhone not on an iPad. CS keeps giving me the run around with the following answers: 1. The next update to the app will fix this problem. 2. The next OSX update will fix it. 3. Read the article from the website! Can you believe this last reply? I been told that two times! Also, I’m a subscriber to the Trib and pay them over $50 every three months for the digital versions of the paper. So I expect ALL the apps, on whatever platform to WORK!!!
  • This is the worst app ever

    I use to love to read the Tribune but I am sick and tired of the app crashing every other article. I have tried to be patient but I can no longer pay for garbage. I am canceling today.
