  • Absolutely the worst news site

A few days ago, the links to individual articles resulted in the interminable spinning while. Both iPad and iPhone. So, deleted the app from the iPhone and now it won’t accept my newspaper subscription that allows electronic access, for which I pay too much. Subsequent attempts to fix result in immediate crashes. It would be great to have access to the meager original reporting by the Trib via the app. But, I am reduced to using my internet browser, further eroding my loyalty to the paper.
  • I’m paying for this. I deserve better.

I average about 1 for 4 attempts to actually open and read an article without the app freezing and crashing. This is unacceptable especially because I’ve bought a subscription to get past the pay wall - I’m not mooching. This is what the Trib thinks of its paying readers?
  • App freezes

This app freezes when you navigate to a story. It is unusable even in the paid version. The app needs to be pulled until it is fixed. This has been going on for months.
  • Freezing Makes App Unusable

I can’t understand why the freezing loading stories problem hasn’t been addressed. Giving this app more than one star when all other major news services perform this basic function consistently shows how poorly the Tribune app functions.
  • Worst news app on the planet

I don’t get it. This is a major newspaper that can’t put together a usable app. The experience is extremely frustrating. When tapping on a news story, about one-third of the time the app freezes, requiring you to close the app and try again (usually without success). After trying to read two or three articles, you give up and read something else.
  • Please fix the freezing issue

As numerous reviews have stated, the app sometimes hangs and won’t load articles. It does this often enough that the app is unusable. Enough people have said this that you can’t assume we’re all just making it up.
  • Does Not Work

App no longer loads article after clicking on it from the main menu, even after re-installing app.
  • The worst

Quite literally the worst app I have ever used. I’m finally canceling my subscription after YEARS of hoping they’d figure out the bugs. Articles never load and I’m constantly kicked out. Horrible!!!
  • App is still flawed.

Links are hit and miss. When links don’t work the app freezes up. Very frustrating as a paid subscriber. Cmon tribe app developers. Why can’t you fix the broken link problem?

As another reviewer said, there are many news apps that work well, are easy to use. And then there’s the Tribune. Spinning circles when I have 4 bars and a string WiFi connection, freezes, random crashes, poor layout. Maybe the Tribune should look at the NYT, Washington Post or FT as examples of news apps that work. I’ve never written an app review before but the Teib app infuriated me. I’m a Chicagoan and I use the Tribune to get my news. It’s so bad I might have to switch to the Sun Times.
