  • Bring back the cartoon caption results...

    By r@ee
This is a fine app overall, but for some reason it was decided to drop the results of the cartoon caption contest and insert a link instead. As a result, we lose later weeks’ results. Please restore the previous version or, if that can’t be done, provide an archive.
  • The New Yorker magazine is great; The New Yorker app is not

    By Davido 76!
The rating is for the updated app, not the content itself (which is wonderful). If you accidentally scroll off of the article you are currently reading, and then scroll back, you don’t resume where you left off in the article. You are brought back to the beginning. Very frustrating!
  • terrible upgrade

    By aPixelPerfectionist
I hate the new app. It’s slow and buggy. The fonts are horrible: small is a TINY; the next size is HUGE. I switched entirely to the e-copy because the old App was perfect. Everything that was good about that version has been garbled, diminished or damaged. This version is a travesty.
  • Navigation...I need a navigator

I want to be able to fold over a paper. Because who has enough time to read the article in one sitting

Some of the best and wonderfully written reporting. Fascinating poems and short stories. In depth book reviews or explorations and, of course, the famous cartoons. Even The Letters To The Editor are often enlightening. It’s just an all round great read, particularly valuable at this time in history.
  • Simply the best writing in America today...

Please keep it up and if possible expend your investigating reporting— it is a necessity in this climate! Thank you for the quality you deliver. Margherita Sagan
  • Unusable

The updated app is truly awful. Did anyone even test this? Swipe to a new article then stare at the busy cursor for a while. Then the article appears but is not scrollable for even more wait time. Is it waiting for the audio? I never want audio. Can I not turn this off? Go back to a previously viewed article. Wait all over again. Are you serious?
  • Do not like new app!

    By Tratne
The old app was great! Why change it? The new one is not intuitive and clunky. Please call back to the old one.
  • from mediocre to unreadable

The old app had its quirks but the basic functions worked. This new app is a disaster. I’ve never reviewed any app until now. My hope is we build enough critical mass of complaints that they fix this horrible mess. For starters, it doesn’t return you to where you left off in an article. It often freezes when not on wi-fi or won’t allow me two swipe left or right to change articles or even scroll up or down. The new home page may provide a full page view of the lovely cover of the week, but i much preferred the thumbnail view so i could see multiple issues at once. The new menu and TOC is hard to navigate. The experience is so frustrating I’ve reduced my reading and might revert to the print edition. My ophthalmologist might like that. Please fix this app.
  • New app is terrible

Miss the old app which made reading the New Yorker exactly like reading the print version. Now, the fonts are too big and the user interface is horrible
